Advocate Aurora Health, Christ Medical Center Exam Room Delivery

Delivering Ambulatory Exam Rooms in a New Way

Advocate Aurora Health, one of the largest health systems in the country, has experienced significant growth over the last decade. To help the system maintain quality and adhere to consistent design standards, as well as achieve its cost and speed-to-market goals, Advocate Aurora Health-Christ Medical Center chose to implement a modular strategy, recently adding 122 exam room pods for 3 separate ambulatory facilities.

Advocate Aurora Health-Christ Medical Center, CannonDesign and a Chicago-based fabrication firm, developed a modularized system design standard for exam rooms — translating the design into a 10’ x 12’ pod that is efficiently constructed in a manufacturing facility, transported to the site, and installed on project site.  Advocate Aurora Health-Christ Medical Center also introduced engineering design standards for its ambulatory buildings, creating consistent column grids, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing drop locations that allow us to easily “drop in” the pods and install the completed exam rooms effectively and efficiently.
